|
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Appearance: beige solid.
Caution! Causes eye irritation. Causes respiratory
tract irritation. Causes skin irritation. May cause digestive tract
irritation. May cause blood abnormalities. May cause kidney damage.
Light sensitive. May cause reproductive and fetal effects.
Target Organs: Kidneys, blood forming organs,
bone marrow.
Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye irritation.
Skin:
Causes skin irritation.
Ingestion:
May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and
diarrhea. May cause kidney damage. May cause systemic toxicity with
acidosis. Exposure may cause anemia and other blood abnormalities.
May produce aplastic anemia, blood pressure depression, body
temperature decrease, changes in kidnet tubules, dyspnea, flaccid
paralysis without anesthesia, gastrointestinal effects, kidney
damage and hemorrhaging, muscle contraction or spasticity, muscle
weakness, nausea, vomiting, respiratory stimulation and somnolence.
Prolonged ingestion may produce bone marrow depression with
agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia and aplastic anemia
may occur with prolonged administration. Lab findings in overdoses
have indicated metabolic acidosis, hyponatremia, hypokalemia, bone
marrow hypoplasia, thrombocytopenia, granulocytopenia, coagulopathy,
and less commonly hemolytic anemia.
Inhalation:
Causes respiratory tract irritation.
Chronic:
May cause bone marrow abnormalities with damage to blood forming
tissues.

Section 4 - First Aid Measures
|
Eyes:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes,
occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid imme
diately.
Skin:
Get medical aid if irritation develops or persists. Flush skin with
plenty of soap and water.
Ingestion:
If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical
aid immediately.
Inhalation:
Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. Get medical
aid if cough or other symptoms appear.
Notes to Physician:
Treat symptomatically and supportively.
